If They Did It To Him

 (17) These things have I commanded you, that ye love another. (18) If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. (19) If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of this world, therefore the world hateth you. (20) Remember the word that I saith unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my sayings, they will keep yours also. (21) But these things will they do unto you for my name sakes, because they know not him that sent me. (John 15:17-21 KJV)

Have you ever stopped to take a look at the state of this world. Violence is at an all time high, homosexuality is the norm, it’s ok for a man to identify as a woman or vise versa because they were “born this way”. Prayer was taken out of schools and now we have some school aged children scared to even go not even sure if they’ll make it home. Teachers are being trained to carry guns and people are tearing each other apart trying to climb the top of the ladder. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, truth is we live in a sin sick world. We live in a world where we call wrong right and right wrong in Isaiah it says Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20). Even in this God gave us a commandment and that’s simply to love one another.

These things I command you, that ye love one another.

It can be hard loving someone who doesn’t love you back. Human nature tells us to love only those who love us back. It teaches us to only be good to those who are good to us, but the scripture says in John 13:35 by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. I don’t believe that it’s an accident that Jesus commands us to have love for one another, before telling us that if the world hates us, remember that it hated him (Jesus) as well. Jesus is telling us that even though the world ( the people of the world) hates us. We are to love them. It should be the main characteristic that sets us apart from those of the world. I was watching the previews for the upcoming movie God’s Not Dead 3 and something one of the characters was saying caught my attention we can’t fight hate with hate. So if we can’t fight it with more hate, then how do we fight it? The answer is simple we fight with love. Even when and not if were not being shown love back.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

In other words Jesus is letting us know that we can very much expect to be treated how he was treated. If they spit upon him, mocked him, tried to find fault with him. What makes us think that we Christians would be treated any better? Jesus is a healer and a miracle worker but he also convicted the world of sin and for that he was hated among many.  In John 7:7 it says  The world cannot hate you; but it hateth me, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. To hate is to feel an intense or passionate dislike for someone. Jesus said that the world hated him because he testified of it or if I was to put it in layman’s terms he convicted them of sin. Do you know that there is people in the world who hates you simply because you are a Christian. They hate you for standing on the word of God. The world has a motto that times have changed. What they mean by that is that its ok to accept certain if not all sins. Homosexuality is ok because times have changed, adultery and fornication is ok because times have changed. Don’t let this worlds saying fool you I don’t care how much times have changed in Hebrews 13:8 it says Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.  Here’s the problem with the world saying that times have changed. It’s that there implying since times have changed, then God must have changed his views on how he looks at sin, but the scripture tells us he’s the same yesterday, today and forever. Let me break it down for you if he called it sin yesterday, it is still sin today and guess what it will still be sin tomorrow.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Jesus is telling us plainly that if we lived like the world, dressed like the world, acted like the world. Then it would love us. It would love you because you are on of its own. One of its own says things like love is love. There is nothing wrong with man loving another man  the way that God intended for him to love woman or vice versa. The world will tell you that there’s nothing wrong with being transgendered and so it says things like born this way. I’m sorry my God didn’t make any mistakes for anyone to say that they were born in the wrong body, is saying that God made a mistake on you. Jesus tells us that because he called us out of this world, because we don’t believe that certain things are okay then the world hates us. Just as the world hated Jesus because he convicted them of sin. It hates us for the very same thing. It hates us because we don’t celebrate the wrong that they say is right.

Remember the word that I have said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Jesus warns us not to be surprised if were hated because of the stance that we take on certain issues. We’re no greater than him. If they did it to him they will surely do it to us. If their were those in Jesus times that didn’t keep his saying meaning not taking heed to his word. Then there will certainly be those in our time who will ignore the word as well. in verse 21 it says because they know not him that sent me. They had no regard for the word because they didn’t know the one who sent him. Some people have no regard for Christianity simply because they don’t know the God who sent us.

It’s not my job or your job to convict the world of sin. It’s the Holy Spirits job. Our job is just to get the word out and to stand firm on the word of God. Especially in todays time where it isn’t popular to even believe in God. If you are reading this and you know that you have lived a life that is displeasing to God and you want to live for him. Invite Jesus into your heart. He’s waiting. The thing is Jesus Came into the world not to convict but to convince the world of its need of him. The bible says that we have all sinned and fallen short, but Jesus made a way for us on the cross he died for you and me. There is nothing that can’t be covered under the blood. I don’t care what it is. I don’t care how long you did it. I don’t care if you stopped fell back into it. Jesus paid for it all. Just give your life to him it’s the best decision you will ever make.

God’s blessings,

Aqua.
