Not a Man

(19) God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19 KJV)

How many people is waiting for the promises of God to come to pass in your life? You feel as though you have done your part. You’ve remained faithful, even when circumstances around you contradicted what God has promised. You have been diligent in your calling, even in the midst of doubt. I know that I am not the only one who has doubted was it really God who spoke a word into your spirit. Sometimes that doubt will sound like this. Maybe it wasn’t God’s will for my life for me to be healed. Maybe it wasn’t meant for my marriage to be restored it’s been years of arguments and misunderstandings. Instead of it getting better, it’s steadily getting worse. Maybe, I was meant to be single I have been praying for years and all of the good godly men/women are taken. If you were going to do it you would have done it by now. Maybe God didn’t mean that it would be my child who would touch thousands of lives there still battling with addictions. Maybe it wasn’t meant for me to go back to school or to start that business. Maybe my ministry was never meant to grow any further than this. How many have battled with the maybe’s. Maybe I really didn’t hear from God. Here’s the thing about the maybe. It’s that we generally don’t begin to entertain those maybes, until we feel that a certain amount of time has passed and we see no signs of what God has promised coming to fruition. In fact everything in your life is going in the complete opposite direction of what God has spoken. It was something that I had to learn that in the beginning and even in the middle of waiting for God to bring that which he has promised to pass. Is that faith and reality rarely lines up. Faith is what we’re believing to happen even though it is not yet a reality. ( Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1) I had to learn that when God speaks a word into our lives, he does so at a time when it seems the least likely that it will happen.

hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Here is the good news for those of us struggling with the maybe. If God spoke it. Then he’s obligated to fulfill that which he has spoken. In this text Balak wanted Balaam to speak a curse over Israel. When Balaam told him how shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed?  Balak took the man of God to another place hoping that the outcome would be different. Here’s the thing though when God speaks his word, especially his words of blessings it can not be reversed. It can be delayed but if God had spoken it. It can not be denied. No matter who or what may try to come against it. Some of you God has spoken a word to you either through his word or through someone else. That you have begun to doubt because someone came along and spoke the words in your life that God can’t do this because of something lacking on your end. This is what I want for you to sink in both your heart and your spirit. The moment God spoke the word over you he had already factored in your shortcomings. He knew when you would fall short, he knew when you would doubt both him and yourself. He also knew who and what would come up against you. However, we have this confidence that the Lord is able to perform that thing which he has promised.

So shall my word be that forth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11 KJV)

God says that when he sends his word out that it will never return to him empty. Instead it will accomplish what God has intended for it to accomplish. Accomplish means to achieve or complete successfully; to fulfill. Here is something else that I had to learn when God speaks his word it accomplishes what GOD wants for it to accomplish. Not what I may want for it to accomplish. This is what I mean by that and I’m going to use a personal testimony. God has spoken a word in my life that he would fulfill the desire for marriage. The word has been spoken so I know that it will come to pass, but I try to use the word over someone who God never intended for me to use the word over. So now I end up heartbroken and discouraged thinking that I must have misunderstood God. I didn’t I just tried to use God word to get what I wanted for my life and not what he intended. How many of us end up frustrated because we know that the word came from God, but then we get involved and try to bring it to pass in our own strength or try to hurry the promise along with what God never intended. The fake will always come before the promise. It is in the times when the fake will appear that we will need to ask ourselves. Is this what God intended or what I intended. Here is how you will know if it’s not of God. There will be no peace. Sometimes it’ll be just that thing that you can’t put your finger on that is not quite right. That is God telling you that this is not my plan for your life.

God is not a man that he shall lie. If he spoke something in your life. Then it will happen. Most of the time we just have to get out-of-the-way he promises that it will not return unto him void. Which means that by the time the word gets back to God it already did what it set out to do. God is not a man like us who may have had good intentions but can’t deliver. If God said it he will do it. In fact it is already done.

God’s blessings,

Aqua.
