Chosen

(16) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name, he may give it you. ( John 15:16 KJV)

CHOSEN: having been selected as the best or most appropriate. ( picked, appointed, elected, favored, handpicked) One who is the object of choice or of divine favor (an elect person). Selected or marked for favor or special privilege.

It has been two months since I have last blogged and I have missed you guys but God was calling me to a period of digging deeper into him and his word and I had to put blogging on hold for a minute. In my last blog post, I gave my testimony of how this blog ministry came to be. In it, I mentioned how there came a time when I wanted to give up. When I felt like it wasn’t worth it because the return had been slow. You may be thinking Aqua what does this have to do with being Chosen. It actually has a lot to do with it. God had to show me that the reason why I nor you can walk away from God even when we’re ready to throw in the towel. Is because we did not choose God, but rather he chose us and because he has chosen us and not vice verse it is impossible for us to walk away, to give up or to throw in the towel. Even in the seasons when we’re most tempted to.

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain.

As God begin to speak to me in this scripture. He began to show me that to be chosen is to be ordained. To be ordained is to be appointed, anointed, consecrated (set apart) and established for the works of God. You see we weren’t just chosen to simply just believe but to also bring forth fruit. We are chosen to bring forth the things of God. In Ephesians 6:19 it says And for me that utterance may be given unto me that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel (KJV). We are chosen to be bold. To boldly proclaim the gospel. This gospel is a mystery to some people. It is up to us to explain the word in a way that another person can understand, yet in a way that makes another person pick up a Bible and discover God for themselves.

(9) But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: ( 1 Peter 2:9 KJV)

We are chosen to show forth the praises of God. To show means to put something on display. To cause something to be visible. Our praise should be visible. The scripture calls us a peculiar people. We’re called peculiar because its strange to some that we sing forth praise to a God who the world tries to mute out. We live in a society where God is slowly being etched out. It’s everything from prayer that has been taking out of schools to you rarely hear anyone say Merry Christmas instead its Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings. We are called peculiar cause we’re called to give glory to God even in the midst of personal trials, tribulations, and heart-break. For those who are without God, it is strange to them that we show forth praises to God for bringing us out of darkness. I realized that for some of those that are still in darkness (sin) they don’t see that there in darkness. It was by Gods grace and his mercy that we were chosen out of sin. Not saying that we’re perfect and we don’t stumble but still in all we were chosen to live a life that is glorifying to God.

(4) according as he hath chosen us in him, before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. (5) having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. (Ephesians 4:5 KJV)

In this verse we can see that we were chosen in him before the foundations of this world. That we may be holy. To be holy means to be consecrated or set apart. It means to be dedicated to God. I had to learn in fact just today I came to the realization to be chosen comes with a price. Sometimes it means walking this life alone, it means rejection and being misunderstood.  The scripture however also tells us that we were predestined to the adoption by Jesus Christ himself according to the good pleasure of his will. Meaning that no matter what we face because we were chosen it was part of his will for our lives. The scripture says according to his good pleasure of his will. It was Gods good pleasure to take us into his fold. The word adoption means to take in another’s child and raise it as one on. I once heard it said that one of the most precious things about a child who has been adopted. Is that they were chosen. I think about God choosing me even before the foundations of the world and I’m truly grateful. You should be as well. He didn’t choose us because we were the smartest, prettiest/handsomest, most talented. He chose us because he knew that no matter what life threw our way. We would still praise him. We would still do his work. Even when we want to throw in the towel because he chose us and not we him. It gives us the strength to see what the end will be.

Beloved remember that you have been CHOSEN.

God’s blessings,

Aqua.
