And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? ( Luke 2:49 KJV)
No, truer words of Jesus have ever been spoken (all of Jesus words are true). Here at the age of twelve years old. Jesus had been separated from his parents. Mary and Joseph who searched frantically for him for three days. When they finally found him and expressed to Him that they had been frantic about his whereabouts. His response was. Why? Shouldn’t you know that I would be about my Father’s business. I have a question for you today. Are you about your Father’s business. Lately, this is a scripture that has been swirling around in my head. Being about my Father’s business. There is so many things that comes to distract us. We get busy with things of this world. Such as our jobs and family life. We make time for everything under the sun, but do we make time for the things of God? I take a look at the things happening in the world today. The misery and the heartbreak. Every day I hear in the news a young person that has lost their live. Before they even had a chance to live, many without ever knowing our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Every time I hear about such a death. It reminds me that life is short. So today, while I still have breath in my body. I have to be about my Father’s business. Our Father’s business is about getting his word out in this sin sick world. It’s about proclaiming God’s redemptive power. Our Father’s business is about loving those who may look different than us. Our Father’s business is about taking care of the sick, the homeless, the discouraged, the lost. Many times we get it confused and we think that it’s up to us to embark change among others. No, that’s to heavy of a burden. No, we are to use our light to direct them to the one who can effect change from the inside out. That is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We are about our Father’s business every time we testify of God’s goodness. We are about our Father’s business when we continue on in his works.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44 KJV)
The Holy Spirit had to show me something. He showed me that everyone in this world (believers & non believers) we’re all about our Father’s business, but not all of us are children of the Most High God. Lately, on YouTube there has been a lot of videos of so called christians rebuking other christian Youtubers. The only thing that the spirit behind most of these videos isn’t right. Some people serve their father the devil and they are not even aware of it. In John 8:44 Jesus was talking to Pharisees who served the devil and did not know it. They claimed to be children of Abraham, but had they would have been children of Abraham they would have done the works of Abraham. Some of the YouTubers truly believe that they are about their Father’s business. Sadly, that is true. It’s just that for many of them. Their father is the devil. Any time we are about our Father’s business (our heavenly Father) we seek to build up his Kingdom. We don’t seek to tear it down. Yes, there may be times that we will have to rebuke another believer, but there is a difference between rebuking and tearing down. Rebuke leads to correction. Tearing down leads to desolation. We must be about our Heavenly Father’s business. Which is to build up God’s Kingdom. Trust me the children of the devil is definitely about his business and sometimes it seems that they are more united than believers. Jesus tells us that a Kingdom divided among itself cannot stand (Mark 3:24) I am beginning to see that being about our Father’s business means standing together in this wicked and perverse world. Even though we are fighting from victory. We still must be about our Father’s business.
