(37) But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (38) For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, (39) And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. (Matthew 24:37-39 KJV)
In the book of Ecclesiastes. It tells us that there is no new thing under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9). Simply meaning that there is nothing happening in the world today. That has not already happened in the past. History has a way of repeating itself. Such as in the above scripture. Scripture tells us that For as in the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. The bible tells us that before the flood. That the people in Noah’s time was eating, drinking, marrying and being giving in marriage. In other words they were just going on about their lives. You may ask well what is wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with enjoying the life that God has given to us. The problem is that when we read in Genesis 6 it tells us that God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth. That the imagination of the thoughts of his heart was continuously evil (Genesis 6:5). We tend to chase after and do the things that is in our hearts. The people in Noah’s time. Sought after the things that pleased them. People were not concerned with living a life that pleased God. In fact they had no concern for it all. They were a people who only lived to please themselves. The bible makes a comparison about the people of Noah’s time and the people of now. Just as in the days of Noah. Wickedness is everywhere. People live to fulfill the lust of the flesh. We seek those things that brings about our immediate gratification. For some people and some cases. We don’t care who we have to step on or step over. To get what we want. Just like in the times of Noah. We lie, cheat and steal to get over. Now as in the time of Noah. People conduct themselves as if God isn’t watching. Sadly, as if there is no consequences to our actions.
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. (Genesis 6:8 KJV)
In the midst of all the wickedness and chaos that was going on in the world. The bible tells us that Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Scripture tells us in verse 9 that he was a just man who walked with God. Here is the thing since Noah walked with God and therefore had a relationship with God. God was able to tell Noah what was on in his heart. While the rest of the world was only concerned about the wickedness in their own hearts. God was instructing Noah on how to build the ark. We know that the ark represented safety from the flood that would destroy the earth. Which destroyed the wickedness that was on the earth. If you were to ask anybody. Most would be able to tell you about Noah and the ark. What surprises me however is the anger that most people feel about this particular event in the bible. They feel that God was cruel in destroying all those people. Not to mention the other animals who did not make it onto the ark. The Holy Spirit had to reveal to me that those who were angry. Were those who saw themselves being destroyed in the flood and not in the safety of the ark. Noah in the bible represents a type of Christ. Only those who abode with Noah were saved. Just as now only those of us who abide with Jesus. Who put there trust in the Lord. Like Noah those who walk with God shall be saved from the destruction of the second death. Which is eternity separated from our heavenly Father. A life in hell. I want for you to get this. That the people in Noah’s day knew that he was building an ark. He didn’t go off in secret to build this . The people were aware. Make no mistake the flood did not catch the people off guard. They knew that Noah was building the ark in preparation of the flood, but because they saw no evidence of the rain. They continued on in their sinfulness. The bible tells us that as in the days of Noah. They went on about their lives. Eating and drinking marrying being giving in marriage. Just as the people in Noah’s time. Ignored the building of the ark. So do the people of our time. Ignore the works that Christ did on the Cross. Now as in then, the world is going on about their affairs. With no regards to what the bible has to say. Like the people back in Noah’s day who thought that it was foolish of Noah to have built the ark. In our times for some they look at christians as foolish to build upon a relationship with Christ. They don’t see the evidence of Christ return. So they continue on in their sins. This is a warning for those of you on the outside of Christ. Jesus will return and we are either found in him (the ark of safety). Or we are found on the outside of him (the flood of destruction) there is no middle ground. Either you or saved or you or not. I implore those of you who are not to put your trust in Christ. He is the only one who can save you. Not only in this life but in the life to come. Don’t find yourself on the outside of Christ when he makes his return. For we are truly living in the last days. Don’t be foolish like the people of the days of Noah. There is still time to get on the ark.
God’s blessings,
