For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. ( Mark 13:6 KJV)
Yesterday on YouTube. I was watching this documentary of this Australian man named Alan Jon Miller. Who claimed to be Jesus Christ himself. This is one of those times that I can’t stress enough. Especially to believers to get into your bibles and read it for yourselves. What makes me sad about all of this. Is not this guy claiming to be Jesus, but the number of people who he was able to deceive into thinking that he is the Christ. It is sad because scripture clearly warns us that if any man comes claiming to be the Christ. To not believe him! As I watched this documentary. I was drawn to this man’s followers. What I saw truly broke my heart. I saw a bunch of souls. Who was hurting, crying out for a Saviour. Believing that this Alan guy was truly it. Some believed so much that he was the Christ. That they excommunicated themselves from family and friends. Who tried to warn them that he was not. What is truly heartbreaking however, is the blindness of his followers. Blindness because Jesus and I am referring to the real Jesus Christ warned us not to believe any man who claimed to be the Christ. He told us that many shall come in his name and they will deceive many. Here is the thing though. It is hard to be deceived when we hear the truth straight from the source. Our source is the word of God. Which is the Bible. I am convinced that none of Miller’s followers read the Bible for themselves. Now they may have been church goers who depended on their pastors to feed them the word but didn’t bother to dig into the word for themselves. I say this because there is no way that a person could read the word. Hear Jesus specifically say that many will come claiming to be him and you still believe in this false christ. The only answer to that is that you never knew the word of God to begin with. The many that will be deceived will be those who never or rarely picked up their bibles to begin with.
(21) And if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or lo, he is there; believe him not: (22) For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shew signs, to seduce, if it were possible even the elect. ( Mark 13:21-22 KJV)
A few passages down from verse verse 6. Jesus again tells us. That hey if anyone says to you. That Christ is here or behold he is there. That we are not to believe him. The fact that he stressed this twice. Especially, in the same chapter. Shows us the seriousness of what he is saying. In verse 6 Jesus tells us that these false Christs will deceive many. Which we see is true. In verse 22 Jesus explains a little more. He says that these false Christs and false prophets shall rise and shew signs to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. Now we haven’t seen these signs just yet. I believe that will be one of the major signs of the end times, but we are seeing like never before false Christs and false prophets coming out of the wood work. Now a lot of people read verse 22 and think that some of God’s people will be fooled by these signs. That however, is not true. Now the job of these false Christs /prophets will be to try to seduce which simply means to lead astray by persuasion or false promises. God’s elect, but scripture tells us if it were possible. IF being the keyword which is the assumption that God’s elect (chosen) can be led astray. It does not say that God’s chosen will be led astray, but it does tell us that these false Christs/false prophets will assume that because of these signs that God’s elect will be able to be led astray. Remember the word says if it were possible. Not that it is possible. Two different things. Which shows that those who will be deceived especially by those claiming to be the Messiah will be those who do not know God’s word. This may sound cruel but its no way that you can be God’s elect. If you don’t know who he is. If you don’t spend time in his word. If you don’t spend that intimate time with him. One of the things that I find that irks me. Is when someone claims that something is in the bible. That is not and you see hundreds of amens, yet when something is in the bible that doesn’t tickle your fancy you want to get defensive and demand to know where is it found. Cause you don’t believe that it is there. The bible folks isn’t always a feel good book. Some things you will read will make you say ouch. It is also a book of corrections and correction does not always feel good (sorry I got off topic). Here is the thing folks. When Jesus Christ does return there will be no doubt in anyone’s mind. That this is the Christ. The documentary that I mentioned in this post was either from 2018-19. I’m not sure but I just heard of it this week. My point is that when the real Messiah returns. We will know in the here and now and not some years later. In the book of Acts 1 the apostles (which Christ had chosen) watched the ascension of Jesus Christ. As they watched Acts 1:10 -11 tells us that two men dressed in white stood by them and asked this question why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (KJV). The same way. That the apostles witnessed Jesus ascension into heaven. Will be the same way. We which are here will witness his return. Our eyes will be drawn towards the skies. Just as in Jesus ascension the apostles eyes were drawn towards the clouds. Every eye will behold him. That is believers and non believers as well. No one will have to tell you. Christ is here or he is over there. Heaven will open up and you will know. Scripture tells us that we are to watch therefore and be ready. For no man knows the time or the hour (Matthew 24:36-44). So I say to you watch. Do not let any man deceive you for we are truly living in the last days.
